Myths & Misconceptions

Myth: Palestinian Civilians are not being harmed.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/longform/2023/10/9/israel-hamas-war-in-maps-and-charts-live-tracker -  This is a live tracker of the death toll of the people killed in Palestine in Israel since October 7. Since the last update (October 25, 2025), the latest death toll stands at 68,229 Palestinians. At least 20,179 of the deaths are children.

Myth: The Israeli military is the most moral army in the world.

https://www.breakingthesilence.org.il/ - Breaking the Silence is an Israeli non-governmental organization established in 2004 by veterans of the Israel Defense Forces. It is allows serving and discharged Israeli soldiers a way to confidentially recount their experiences in the Occupied Territories.

Civilized, democratic, inventive, and above all, moral. This is why the claim of the moral superiority of the IDF, is central in the narrative of the Israeli state’s foundation. The idea of the Israeli military being moral is clearly false when presented with a factual historical record.

Myth: The Israeli government treats Palestinians fairly

https://visualizingpalestine.org/visual/segregated-roads-west-bank/ - This infographic uses visuals to show the segregated road systems Palestinians are subject to.  Cars with Palestinian license plates are not allowed on Israeli roads, regardless of the identification held by the driver. Even on Palestinian roads, cars with Palestinian plates have restricted access, face delays at checkpoints and are subject to regular road blocks. Cars with Israeli plates experience none of these difficulties.

Myth: Israeli and Palestinian civilians are equally subject to violence.

Myth:

This interactive infographic allows you to see visually the extent of the territory now defined as Israeli 'state land', on which Palestinians — even those holding Israeli citizenship — are now largely excluded from living. It describes the military, legal and financial tools that have been utilised in the gradual transformation of historic Palestine into 'Greater' Israel.

Myth: Israel is has not been committing genocide.

Myth: The United States has no financial incentives for supporting Israel.
